State Bank of India has setting up a new cyber centre CyRIS, and the plan is ambitious. It will cover threat intelligence, cyber defenses, digital forensics, malware analysis, ethical hacking, fraud analytics, the bank also knows it can’t fight this alone, since cyber threats rarely stop at one organization’s doorstep. CyRIS will work with government and regulatory bodies, financial institutions, fin techs, universities and technology partners.
SBI Chairman Mr. Challa Sreenivasulu Setty put it in terms of trust. “Cybersecurity is fundamental to customer trust and the resilience of our digital financial ecosystem,” he said. “CyRIS will strengthen our ability to anticipate emerging threats and stay ahead of the evolving cyber landscape.”
Sanjay Lohiya, Secretary at the Department of Financial Services, said the timing is right. “As India’s financial ecosystem becomes increasingly digital, cyber resilience must grow alongside innovation,” he said. “CyRIS is a timely initiative to strengthen capabilities, collaboration, and preparedness across the ecosystem.”
